On the Subject of Drawing

Drawing is my preferred discipline. I began to focus on drawing in 2003 upon attending the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland. There my teacher introduced me to the powerful expressive quality of line drawing and I abandoned my paints. The beauty of drawing is that it is fast and marks are immediately made without materials slowing you down. Then again, this is also the conflict; you cannot (or at least in my drawings) erase your marks. Either the drawing works or you go too far and it doesn't: throw it away and start over. This is the challenge I crave; not only can my subject matter be difficult at times to get out, but the fight I also have with the medium fuels my interest. The work you will see were composed in series.
